Stefan Mozar
Biography
Stefan Mozar’s commitment to IEEE spans nearly four decades, during which he has actively contributed at every level of the organization. His impact is most evident in the development and advancement of several societies, most notably the IEEE Consumer Technology Society, where he served as President, working tirelessly to execute and mobilize resources toward worthy causes. Mozar also initiated the formation of the Consumer Electronics Chapter in Singapore, where he started the International Symposium on Consumer Electronics to generate funds for the chapter, enabling it to become financially independent. This fundraising model has since been replicated throughout IEEE, helping to establish new chapters. Mozar also served as Chair of the Life Science Technical Community, which now boasts more than 8,000 members. He was an early champion of the life sciences space within IEEE and his efforts helped establish the field as one that was meaningful to the IEEE’s mission of advancing humanity. He was also President of the IEEE Product Safety Engineering Society and served on the Board of Governors in four societies. Mozar’s dedication to IEEE is further highlighted by his extensive involvement in conferences and events. He always seeks to raise the profile of IEEE events, both internally and externally and is quick to provide creative ways to overcome apparent roadblocks. Throughout his IEEE journey, Mozar has mentored countless volunteers, many of whom remain active contributors to the organization. As a champion for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), he actively supports volunteers from diverse backgrounds and ethnicities, mentoring and empowering them to assume leadership roles within IEEE at both the local and global levels. Mozar’s influence continues to be felt today as he was recently selected to Chair the presidential ad hoc on Multimedia Digital Reality Technologies.
An IEEE Life Fellow, Mozar is a Self-Employed Engineer, Glenwood, New South Wales, Australia and is the 2024 recipient of the IEEE Richard M. Emberson Award for "sustained contributions and leadership of multiple IEEE Societies and Technical Communities, and IEEE Conferences."
