Personal-Narrative:List of all Personal Narratives
About Personal Narratives
These documents are "personal narratives" rather than “oral histories” or "interviews" because they are a distinct entity. The IEEE History Center’s oral histories are life histories and thus are interviews with individuals about their backgrounds from childhood to adulthood with an emphasis on their education, career, and IEEE activities. In general, an oral history is approximately two-hours in length. The Personal Narrative collection emanates from an interest to record through conversation the experiences of IEEE members; however, an IEEE Personal Narrative is a shorter interview, a discussion between two individuals pertaining to a more narrowly defined topic. For example, the history of an event, conference, journal, or a particular technology and the IEEE member’s contributions. In addition, some conversations have been recorded with the recipients of IEEE Awards and Medals.
