Biography

Insley B. Pyne (IRE Student, 1949; Associate, 1950; and Member, 1955) was born in New York, New York, on 26 July 1919. He received the A.B. degree in physics and the M.S.E. degree in electrical engineering, both from Princeton, New Jersey, in 1948 and 1950, respectively.

From 1951 to 1961, Pyne served on the faculty of the Electrical Engineering Department at Princeton, first as Instructor (1951 to 1952) and later as Assistant Professor (1952 to 1961). In 1961, he joined the staff of the Princeton Computer Center. Pyne's work focused on the fields of analog and digital computers as well as switching theory.

Pyne was a member of both the IRE and the AIEE, and Sigma Xi.
