Biography
George Roland Briggs was born on May 21st, 1924 in Ithaca, New York to Thomas R. and Frances Briggs. He graduated from Ithaca High School in 1942 and was accepted to Cornell, and drafted into the US Army in 1944. After graduating from Cornell with a degree in physics, he earned his PhD from University of Illinois, and became employed at RCA, where he was involved with the matricing for RCA's experimental electroluminescent displays in the late 1950s.
Briggs was a Life Senior Member of the IEEE and authored 36 patents. He died on February 16st, 2021.
