Gary D. Hachtel
- IEEE W.R.G. Baker Award
Gary Hachtel, a Senior Member of IEEE, received his B.S. from California Institute of Technology in 1959 and his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1965, both in electrical engineering. He has taught at the University of California, Berkeley, New York University, UCLA, and at the University of Denver. Since 1965 he has been with IBM, currently with the Mathematical Sciences Department at Watson Research Center, Yorktown Heights, N.Y.
Dr. Hachtel was Associate Editor, International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, and is now Associated Editor, IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems. He has received IBM Awards for integrated circuit modeling in 1968 and for the Tableau Approach to Network Design in 1971. In 1972 he received Best Paper Award from the Circuits and Systems Society.
His current research is on statistical network design, simplicial approximation, sparse matrices for finite elements, and solar energy modeling problems.
