Biography
Eugene O. Keizer was the co-recipient of the 1983 IEEE Vladimir K. Zworykin Award, with Jon K. Clemens "For outstanding contributions to the development of an electronic disc system for recorded television programs."
Keizer received his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Iowa State College in 1940. He joined RCA that same year. Keizer worked in various areas during his career at RCA. He worked to develop radar, television display systems, FM and television receivers, and prerecorded video disc systems. One of his major accomplishments was the development of the keel-lapped stylus.
Keizer held 60 patents and received numerous awards, including the 1981 David Sarnoff Award and the Eduard Rhein Award. In addition to his many achievements, Keizer was also a senior member of the IEEE, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the New York Academy of Sciences, and various honors societies.
Keizer died on May 6, 2002.
