Biography

Over the last three decades, V. Anand Sankaran has served in various capacities and spearheaded the powertrain development and launches for 25 electrified vehicle models at Ford Motor Company, including the award-winning vehicles, namely, Escape Hybrid, Fusion Hybrid, F-150 Powerboost Hybrid, and Mustang Mach E. His contributions have been instrumental in establishing Ford as a prominent force in automotive electrification. More impressively, while advancing and implementing new electrification powertrain technologies for fuel economy and performance, he also led the charge to achieve a 30% cost reduction from one generation to the next. Since 2004, Ford has sold over 2.5 million electrified vehicles, helping the world lower carbon emissions. Sankaran’s contributions include 22 publications and 32 US patents in electrification technologies.

An IEEE fellow, Sankaran is Director, Ford Ion Park and EV Energy Management Systems, Ford Motor Company, Michigan, USA and is the recipient of the 2024 IEEE Transportation Technologies Award for "contributions to the advancement and high-volume implementation of automotive electrification technologies."
