Paul Nikolich
Biography
Paul Nikolich served as Chairman of the IEEE 802 LAN/MAN Standards Committee from 2001 to 2024, providing oversight over thousands of dedicated participants completing hundreds of ratified IEEE 802 standards in wired and wireless communications networking, most taking several years to complete. He played a key role in developing broadband access standards, including the IEEE 802 LMSC and DOCSIS Cable Modem standards families, which have revolutionized global connectivity. These standards created vast opportunities, enabling employment of millions in the networking industry, and connecting billions to the Internet. All told, the economic impact of these technologies well exceeds $1 trillion annually. As a successful company founder and angel investor, Nikolich invented, funded and delivered new products and services that leveraged these many networking standards.
An IEEE Life Fellow, Nikolich is the Owner of Nikolich Advisors, LLC based in Essex Fells, New Jersey, USA and is the 2025 recipient of the IEEE Charles Proteus Steinmetz Award for "leadership in the development and advancement of global IEEE 802 network standards."
