Biography
American radar systems engineer David K. Barton received the 2002 IEEE Dennis J. Picard Medal "For contributions to radar system design and analysis, the publication of definitive radar reference books, and to the exchange of radar technology information internationally." He is known for his contributions to the development of defense technologies, air traffic control, and monopulse and early warning radar. One of those contributions included the surface-to-air missile system, MIM-104 Patriot. In the 1970s, he authored a series of radar engineering reference texts.
