Biography

Clure H. Owen (IRE Associate, 1932; VA, 1939; and Member, 1955) was born in Aldrich, Missouri, on 5 June 1904. He received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, in 1930 and 1936, respectively.

From 1927 to 1931, Owen worked as a Radio Operator at Broadcast Station WSB, Atlanta. He served as Radio Inspector and Radio Engineer with the Federal Communications Commission in Atlanta and Washington, D.C., from 1931 to 1935. From 1945 until at least 1962, Owen worked with the American Broadcasting Company in New York City, as Allocations Engineer and Business Manager of the Engineering Department.

Owen was on the Administrative Committee of the IRE Professional Group on Broadcasting from its inception until 1960, and was its Chairman in 1958 and 1959.
