Biography
William C. Beller was an accomplished microscopist and pioneering researcher in the electronics industry.
Beller was born in New York City and attended Columbia University, where he earned his Ph.D in electrical engineering under the direction of Michael Pupin. Beller held key patents in electronics research development.
He also had many interdisciplinary interests. He was proficient in Sanskrit, Greek, Latin, French, and German language and literature, and wrote a poetic drama called “Theomachia,” (“War of the Gods”). Beller also preserved his childhood home, the Valentine-Varian farmhouse on Bainbridge Avenue in the Bronx, and donated it to the Bronx County Historical Society in 1965.
