Served in the US Navy from Nov. 1960 to Mar. 1966. My first year was spent at GLAKES at ETA radar school, Jan. 1962 to Dec. 1962. Rate, ETRSN. Upon graduation I was sent to class S3-63 NTDS Mare Island for another full year, Jan. 1963 to Dec. 1963.
I left Mare Island, rate DS3 and was flown to Japan to join USS MAHAN DLG 11. I spent 2 years and 4 months aboard MAHAN, departing for separation from Subic Bay PI, Mar, 1966. Rate, DS2. My DS experiences can be told at a later date.
It became my lifelong career.
