Biography

Omkaram Nalamasu’s technical leadership and scholarship have significantly advanced engineering technologies that are now part of our everyday lives. One example is his technical and managerial leadership that has led to the development of Thin Film Encapsulation technology for the OLED display industry. Dr. Nalamasu also led the development of a disruptive OLED front plane technology that has significantly higher efficiency and lower cost. Another contribution is the development of a technology solution that has improved LED device yield and performance at lower cost. The solution is now used at every major LED manufacturer for advanced solid-state lighting for general illumination.

An IEEE Fellow, Nalamasu is chief technology officer and senior vice president of Applied Materials and president of Applied Ventures, Santa Clara, California, USA.
