Nirmala (Nimmi) Ramanujam
Biography
Nimmi Ramanujam has made pioneering contributions to the development of innovative, patient-centered health technologies that have far-reaching impacts in the fight against cancer, particularly cervical cancer. She found a way to replace a clinical colposcope, a pricy device used to diagnose cervical cancer by inventing much less invasive devices at a fraction of the cost which are specifically designed to bring comfortable and practical clinical solutions closer to the patient. She has also built several global initiatives to scale engineering design education and global cervical cancer prevention.
An IEEE Associate Member, Ramanujam is the Robert W. Carr Jr. Distinguished Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Duke University, Durham, North Carolina, USA.
