Biography

Milo P. Hnilicka was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia, in 1912 and graduated from the University of Prague in 1929 with a degree in mechanical and electrical engineering. Two years later he received a degree in chemical technology, also from the University of Prague.

In Czechoslovakia he oversaw the operation and management of the power plant in Ostrava, the country's largest. He served in the Czech Army during the Nazi invasion of Czechoslovakia and during World War II. In 1948 he and his family escaped Czechoslovakia into Western Germany and came to the U.S. in 1949. Dr. Hnilicka went on to become chief scientist at National Research Corp. in Cambridge, Mass., USA, which later became Norton Company.

Hnilicka died on February 22nd, 1998.
