Biography
John S. Anderson has been involved in aeronautical communications for more than 40 years. In 1929 he joined Boeing Air Transport, a predecessor of United Air Lines, where he served in various communications positions. With the outbreak of World War II in the United States, he entered active duty in 1942 and served with the U. S. Army Air Forces in communications, advancing to the grade of Colonel.
Following the war, Anderson joined Aeronautical Radio, Inc. (ARINC), in 1946 as Assistant to the President. He was elected Vice President of ARINC in 1948 and Executive Vice President in 1950. In 1951 he was elected President and Director. In addition, he was elected President of ARINC Research Corporation, a subsidiary formed in 1958. And in 1968 he was elected Chairman of both companies.
