Biography
Elmer W. Easton was an engineering education pioneer who served as Dean at Rutgers University 1948-1974, transforming the curriculum there and having nationwide influence.
Easton was born in Newark, NJ, on 23 December 1909. He received his B.S.E.E and M.S.E.E degrees from Leghigh University (1931 and 1933) and his Sc.D. degree from Harvard in 1942.
In 1967, he was named a Fellow of IEEE "For his contributions to engineering education."
An oral history interview with Dr. Easton, conducted in 2008 by Sandra Stewart Holyoak of Rutgers and Michael Geselowitz of the IEEE History Center is on the Rutgers Oral History Archive website.
Easton died on 22 June 2013 at the age of 103.
