Dimitar Filev
Biography
Dimitar Filev is a pioneer in intelligent control and AI systems for the automotive industry. His groundbreaking work integrates neural networks, fuzzy logic, machine learning, and advanced control technologies, revolutionizing driver assistance and vehicle autonomy. As Chair of Ford’s Control Technology and AI Technology Councils, Filev spearheaded the research on intelligent systems, leading to the development of brand-new automotive features and experiences. His contributions span automotive manufacturing, vehicle advisory systems, predictive diagnostics, autonomous driving, and more. He was also the driving force behind the introduction of AI methods across Ford, resulting in a large set of AI-based vehicle features. His innovative research continues to push the boundaries of AI in the automotive sector.
An IEEE Life Fellow and a member of NAE, Filev is Senior Henry Ford Technical Fellow (retired), Research and Innovation Center, Ford Motor Company, Dearborn, Michigan, USA, and currently a Fellow of the Hagler Institute for Advanced Study, Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas, USA and is the 2025 recipient of the IEEE Lotfi A. Zadeh Award for Emerging Technologies for "technical leadership and pioneering contributions to emerging automotive intelligent control and information systems."
