Biography
Wolfe began his career in the 1930s as a wireless operator on merchant ships. He graduate d from the Capitol Radio Engineering Institute in Washington, DC in 1934.
He joined the engineering department at WCBM-AM radio in Baltimore, MD in 1936 and was a civilian technical supervisor of a radar group for the US War Department during World War II.
After the war he joined the Federal Communications Commission as a radio engineer. From 1946-47, he helped establish WANN-AM in Annapolis, MD and then WSID-AM in Baltimore, MD where he was director of engineering in 1949. In 1959 Wolfe designed the three-antenna tower at "Television Hill" in Baltimore, the first of its kind. In 1969 he was named vice president of engineering for the Capitol Area Post Newsweek Stations. He retirned in 1979 and was a consultant for the company until 1989.
Wolf died on September 17th, 1997.
