Archives:Journal of Petroleum Engineering 50th Anniversary Issue

In 2007, the Society of Petroleum Engineers celebrated its 50th anniversary. To mark the occasion, the society's flagship periodical, the Journal of Petroleum Technology published a commemorative issue that explored the history of SPE's creation and growth. The issue examined industry history, and included accounts of the significant events and changes that occurred in the petroleum industry during that 50 year time span. Published in October of 2007, it also includes the reflections of 33 past SPE presidents about the most remarkable milestones that occurred during their tenure; a decade-by-decade look at the history of the society and how it was affected by trends in the industry; an article on the launch of the Offshore Technical Conference; an exploration of the technological and social changes in the industry; and much more.
