Howard M. Eavenson originally published this work in 1935, although the edition included below is the 1939 edition of Coal Through the Ages. This short work presents the history of coal from its earliest known reference in Aristotle's 'Meteorology' through the origins of British coal mining in the 13th century, and on to coal's use in the author's present day 1939.
