Anita Longley
From ETHW
Biography
Anita Longley was born in 1922 and developed the Longley-Rice model in the 1960s along with Phil Rice, for frequency planning in television broadcasting in the United States. They developed this at the Central Radio Propagation Laboratory (CRPL), and realized that computers could be used to improve the modeling and design of radio systems used in a wide array of applications. Mobile radio and television systems required better engineering, and their model provided the algorithms that are still in use today. Anita Longley died in 2020.
