Alfred H. Lovell

Biography
Alfred Henry Lovell was born in Hamilton, Ontario on July 13th, 1884. He attended the University of Michigan, earning a Bachelor of Science in 1909 and a Master's degree in 1914. He served in England and France with the 310th Regiment during World War I, attaining the rank of Colonel of Engineers.
Lovell returned from the war in September of 1918 as a full professor at the University of Michigan, where he spent his entire career. He became in Assistant Dean of the College of Engineering in 1930, and Acting Chair of the Electrical Engineering Department in 1944.
Lovell was the chair of the Michigan Section of AIEE from 1928-1929 and served as a director of AIEE from 1932-36.
Lovell retired in 1954 and died on October 27th, 1960.
