Aldo Boglietti
Biography
Aldo Boglietti’s contributions in the field of thermal problems of electric machines is recognized worldwide, and his efforts have helped to solve difficult challenges in industrial design and manufacturing. With over 150 publications and nearly 6,000 citations, his work has had a substantial impact on both industry and academia. Over his nearly 40-year career, he demonstrated loss mechanisms in laminated electrical steels, proposed new methods for industrial standards dedicated to induction machines, identified new methods to define the thermal response of electrical machines, and coordinated developments of an innovative design procedure for induction machines. His research has paved the way for the application of electronically controlled motor systems for both industrial drives and domestic home appliances.
An IEEE Fellow, Boglietti is a Professor, Department of Energy, Politecnico di Torino, Torino, Italy, and is the 2024 recipient of the IEEE Nikola Tesla Award for "contributions to the magnetic and thermal modeling, design, and characterization of electrical machines."
