Biography

Alain Bensoussan’s influential work in control systems engineering has had a major impact not only on science but on society at large. His theoretical achievements primarily concern the connection between stochastic control and partial differential equations, but he’s made significant contributions to many fields of applied mathematics and his discoveries have driven innovation throughout the real world, from finance to manufacturing. His stewardship of the National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Control (INRIA), French Space Agency (CNES), and the European Space Agency has been legendary. He founded and now heads UT Dallas’ International Center for Decision and Risk Analysis.

An IEEE Life Fellow, Bensoussan is a Professor of Risk and Decision Analysis, and Lars Magnus Ericsson Chair of the Naveen Jindal School of Management, University of Texas at Dallas, Richardson, Texas, USA.
