The field of optics which describes how light interacts with a non-linear medium
Subcategories
- Fiber nonlinear optics - light the travels through nonlinear fiber mediums
- Nonlinear optical devices - devices that use light that travels in nonlinear media where dielectric polarization responds nonlinearly to electric field
- Photorefractive effect - the nonlinear optical effect seen in some crystals and other materials that respond to light by altering their refractive index
- Supercontinuum generation - the creation of a supercontinuum through the collection of nonlinear processes that act on a pump beam to cause spectral broadening
