This Top Ten Legends of Metallurgy list is an excerpt from a longer feature article published in the August 2016 issue of Mining Engineering magazine. These “Top Ten” lists were compiled by John Marsden at the 2016 SME Annual Conference and Expo. The eight lists in the article are (1) Industry realities; (2) Things a metallurgical or mineral processing engineering graduate should do; (3) Books every metallurgist should have on their shelf; (4) Things I wish I had known; (5) Legends of metallurgy; (6) Things we’ve forgotten; (7) Mineral processing innovations of the past (8) and  The Future.                                                                                                                       The Top Ten Legends of Metallurgy include the celebrated ‘Father of Metallurgy’ and author of De Re Metallica, Georgius Agricola, the prolific Arthur F. Taggart, author of several classic works on mineral processing, and past SME president, Robert Shoemaker.
