My article, presents an historical overview of IEEE's involvement in Codes of Ethics, ethics discipline, ethics advice and ethical support. It will form one input to a newly formed Task Force appointed by the Technical Activities Board, TAB, at its November 2015 meeting, for the Society on the Social Implications of Technology, the SSIT, to form a Task Force looking into IEEE's involvement in ethics and gaps needing fixed.

A companion paper of mine, presents a POSITION STATEMENT, about IEEE's restriction preventing its Ethics and Member Conduct Committee, the EMCC, from getting involved in employee-employer ethics disputes. This restriction is invalid, in my opinion, shown how in the paper, and needs to be overturned to enable the EMCC perform both intended missions; Member Discipline and Ethical Support.
