First page of The Edison Electric Light Company "First Bulletin" dated January 26, 1882. This initial page is part of a consecutive five bulletin run that the Edison company produced internally for use by it agents and employees.

Having been located initially during the first year of operation at 65 Fifth Avenue, As a burgeoning enterprise The Edison Electric Light Company delegated from this office the initial activity for installations of its very first isolated power plants and also soon central station power generation facilities across the United States, as they became developed.

At the same time, immediate efforts were directed to developing South American presence for the Edison electric light and D.C. direct-current power systems. Through the agents Edison had immediately sent forth to this region, service contracts between Edison's company and South American interests had begun to immediately take place in 1881, the year before. A sample of such activity is represented already by the very second entry on the very first page of the very first corporate bulletin representing the The Edison Electric Light Company; with the report of an installation in Santiago, Chile dicsussing a ""Z" dynamo in the Variety Theatre there and that the plant is giving the highest satisfaction." In 1882, "theatre" meant a "theatrical theatre" where live plays were performed as opposed to a "motion picture theatre" for exhibiting motion pictures - as Edison's perfection of the motion picture camera and projector was still a decade away.

It should be noted that The Edison Electric Light Company and it's publication demonstrated from the very onset a concern for it's dissemination pf proprietary corporate information. This notion is reflected at the head of the first page of this "First Bulletin": "CONFIDENTIAL. AND FOR THE USE OF THE COMPANY'S AGENTS ONLY."
