If you do a patent search, use both Carl J Hering, Jr. and C.J Hering, Jr. A patent recipient can only use one initial, but "J" is my full middle name, not an initial. Patents were awarded to me both ways. I often use C.J. Hering, but the period after the "J" is technically not valid.

I am currently co-authoring a paper with a past customer, who is now President of a Water and Waste-Water Treatment Equipment Manufacturer in California. It highlights the connections between water and modern-day refrigerants in both a historical context, but also how the are inexorably tied together.

Over my career, I have found that water people know very little about refrigerant applications and refrigeration people know very little about water applications. Yet, large-scale projects and installations employ both.
