Biography

Thomas W. Doeppner was born in Berlin on May 22nd, 1920 and earned his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering form Kansas State University, Manhattan, USA, and his master's degree from the University of California at Berkeley. He worked with the U.S. military for 28 years as a radio engineer and also in research and development. After he retired as a colonel, Mr. Doeppner worked for several major corporations in a variety of positions and taught at the Defense Systems Management College, Fort Belvoir, Va., the University of California, Berkely and the University of Maryland, College Park.

Mr. Doeppner was active in the IEEE Washington D.C. Section, including serving two terms as chair and editor of its Scanner newsletter.

Doeppner died on December 1st, 2001.
