Biography
Robert G. Quinn was the Francis C. Powell 'Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering' at Drexel University, Philadelphia, Pa., USA. He was a leader in the movement to restructure the engineering curriculum. In recognition of his efforts, Dr. Quinn received numerous honors including the 1999 Lindback Foundation Award for Distinguished Teaching.
Born in Beaver Falls, Pa., USA, Dr. Quinn received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Drexel University. He obtained a master's in physics and a Ph.D. from the Catholic University of America; Washington, D.C., USA. He also did post doctoral work at Princeton University, Princeton, N.J., USA.
Before joining Drexel, Dr. Quinn was the vice president for academic affairs and vice president of the Research Corporation at Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, N.Y., USA. Earlier he spent 14 years as professor professor of engineering of the Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Quinn also had been assistant and associate professor of space science and applied physics at the Catholic University of America.
Dr. Quinn also served on the National Advisory Panel for the space shuttle, and was consultant to NASA's manned space missions.
Quinn died on February 1st, 2000.
