October 19, 1954 - First meeting of 'IRE Professional Group on Automatic Control'.

March 27, 1963 - Name changed to: 'Professional Technical Group on Automatic Control'. IRE Prof. Group on Automatic Control merged with AIEE Institute Technical Group on Automatic Control.

June 23, 1964 - Name changed to 'Automatic Control Group'.

1971 - Name changed to 'Control Systems Society'.
