Biography

George M. Cutter was born on October 13th, 1853 in Boston, MA. In 1869 he began an apprenticeshlp at Johnson & Whittemore and in 1876 he became an employee of Charles Williams. When the Williams Company became part of Bell, Cutter was sent from 1881 to 1882 to Riga and Warsaw in the Russian Empire as a representative of International Bell Telephone Company. In 1883 he became the manager of the Thomson-Houston testing rooms, and was promoted to chief engineer in 1885. In 1889 he started his own company.

Cutter became an associate member of the AIEE on June 17, 1890 and was elevated to full membership on May 19th, 1891.

Cutter died on April 6th, 1915 in San Francisco, CA.
