Biography

Frank Hollenbach was born in 1919 and spent the first few years of his life in Pennsylvania moving to New York City with his family when he was a child. After graduating from Jamaica Long Island High School in 1936, he began studying electrical engineering at Cooper Union School of Engineering. Five years later his younger brother, Paul, a radio operator aboard the USS Arizona, was killed in the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Hollenbach enlisted in the Army on September 11th, 1942, and was involved in campaigns in Normandy and Brittany in France and in Central Germany. Hollenbach earned his electrical engineering degree from Brooklyn Polytechnical Institute in 1946.

Hollenbach was a member of the Veterans of the Office of Strategic Services and a life member of the IEEE. He was also a candidate for the New York state Senate in 1966, and was a deacon for the First Presbyterian Church of Oyster Bay.

Hollenbach died on May 28th, 2002.
