I was born May 28, 1940 in Greenbelt, Maryland. I graduated from Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring, MD in 1958, from the University of Maryland in 1962 with a BSEE, and from Princeton University in 1966 with a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering. I have been a faculty member in the ECE Department at the University of Maryland since September 1966 and retired in July 2008. Since September 1966 I have consulted with numerous companies on digital signal processing, wireline modems, and communication systems including RIXON, Penril, Nortel, and Texas Instruments.
