Article requirements:

Title of the article consists of no more than 40 characters and spaces; to facilitate alphabetic sorting, titles may not begin with the words A, An, or The.

Name(s) of the author(s)

Citation tells what the technology is, how it evolved and why it is important in 50 to 100 words

Timeline consists of 5 to 20 entries; each entry states the year in 4 digits, followed by a systems-defined space and then text in which the number of characters plus spaces can be no more than 85.

Essay of 2,000 to 4,500 words consisting of an untitled introduction of 1 to 3 paragraphs, followed by 3 or more sections, each headed by a brief title. Figures and tables are desirable and should be distributed through the essay, and each should have a title and any necessary descriptive text. Figures and tables are separately numbered in sequence. Captions are not included in the word count. The combined total of figures and tables must be between 2 and 16 and feature 300dpi resolution to ensure quality reproduction in Proceedings of the IEEE.

Bibliography consists of 2 to 12 references of which at least 1 must be of historic significance and 1 for further reading.

Biography of each author is 50 to 100 words.

Acknowledgements are usually put in final form after the review process is completed.
