Japan Council History Committee

The Japan Council History Committee (JCHC) was established in 2006, and started its activities with the following mission and objectives:

  • To promote and increase the evaluation of the history of Japanese technology in electrical, electronic, and computing engineering, in cooperation with the IEEE History Center.
  • To identify achievements worthy of IEEE Milestones, and to promote nominations for IEEE Milestones in cooperation with the the relevant sections or chapters. Also, to preserve the records of the past Milestones in Japan to promote their visibility.

The JCHC has been extremely active in promoting the recognition of IEEE Milestones in Region 10 and, up to 2009, Japan was the only country in the region to have IEEE Milestones.
