Biography

Don Scharfetter earned his doctoral degree from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, Pa., USA, in 1962. He worked for Bell Labs for fourteen years where he was most noted for his invention of the Scharfetter-Gurnmel algorithm.

Later, he became a professor at Carnegie Mellon and the University of California, Berkeley, USA.

Dr. Scharfetter was a Life Fellow of the IEEE and died on 6 September 2000.
